On December 12 to 13, 2012, the academic exchange symposium for National Science Foundation of China (NSFC) key projects was held in Changsha of Hunan Province. This project made outstanding contribution to th sesearch on: the theory of water-saving and pollution-controlled irrigation practices, and their impacts on farmland environment; controlled drainage and its environmental effects; the coupled process of farmland water movement and pollutant transformation; ecological contribution of paddy field wetland and cological risks; operational model of irrigation-drainage-wetland system; and ecological safty of farmland.
