Professor Hu Fengbin won the third-class prize of Science and Technology Progress in Jiangsu Province recently for the research project on the design tidal flow at the location of Sutong Bridge in a complex tidal river channel. The research result was considered to have reached the international advanced level. It has been used by the Sutong bridge’s construction headquarters of the Department of Communications of Shanxi Province for the preliminary design of the bridge. The idea and the research method of the project could be used as a reference for the calculation of design tidal flow for similar tide-effected reaches.
