Prof. Zhang Chang-Kuan(1954-), born in Xinhua, Jiangsu Province. He is specialized in numerical simulation of offshore hydrodynamics and substance diffusion, coastal and estuarine disaster forecasting and prevention, numerical simulation of coastal evolution. He was the president of Hohai University, and is vice chairman of Chinese Hydraulic Engineering Society, vice chairman of Chinese Society of Oceanology and Limnology, member of Committee of Science and Technology, Ministry of Water Resources of China and International Association of Hydraulic Research (IAHR). He has undertaken more than 40 projects funded by National Nature Foundation, Key Projects of the Ministry of Communications, Huo Yingdong Young Teachers Fund and Doctors Degree Supporting Fund, etc. He won Grand Prize for the Educational Achievements Award in Higher Education from Jiangsu Provincial Government in 2007, Second Prize for the Science and Technology Progress Award of Chinese Universities in 2005, Grand Prize for the Science and Technology Progress Award of Hubei Provincial Government in 2004, Second Prize for the Science and Technology Progress Award of Chinese Universities in 2001, Third Prize for the National Science and Technology Progress Award in 1996, First Prize for the Science and Technology Progress Award, Ministry of Water Resources in 1996, Third Prize for the Science and Technology Progress Award from Jiangsu Provincial Government in 1986, Third Prize for the Science and Technology Progress Award from Jiangsu Provincial Government in 1995. He has published over 50 papers in major scientific journals.
