Dr. Mao’s research interests focus on hydro-environment of reservoirs, lakes and coastal waters. More specifically, Dr. Mao carried out a series of studies of hydrodynamics, algal bloom dynamics, carrying capacity and data assimilation methodology. Dr. Mao is the P.I. of a project supported National Natural Science Foundation of China (NFSC), and the co-investigators of varies national projects, e.g., projects supported by the NFSC (including NSFC Distinguished Young Scholars, key and general projects),  the 863 National High Technology Program of China, and the project funded by Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Fund. So far Dr Mao has published more than 20 peer-reviewed papers, including 6 SCI indexed.
