Zhang Jianyun

 
 
Prof. Zhang Jian-Yun (1957-), academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, born in Peixian County, Jiangsu Province. His major research areas include hydrology, flood control and drought relief, impact of climate change and hydroinformatics, etc. He has been in charge of over 20 key research programs like National Science and Technology Research Projects (i.e. National Scientific and Technical Supporting Programs), National High-Tech Research and Development Programs (i.e. 863 Programs), and some important projects at ministerial and provincial levels. He won one First Grade Prize and three Second Grade Prizes of National Award for Science and Technology Progress, two First Grade Prize and three Second Grade Prizes of ministerial and provincial award. He has published 4 monographs and 1 translation in addition to over 100 papers. Besides, he was the chief editor of 5 books and participated in the compilation of another 4 books. He used to be Engineer-in-Chief and vice Director-General of Bureau of Hydrology, MWR, vice Chief Designer and Chief Designer of NFCDRCS, and vice Director of Construction Office of NFCDRCS and so on. Being a senior engineer, professor and doctoral tutor, he is now President of NHRI, Director-General of Dam Safety Management Center of Ministry of Water Resources, Director-General and Chief Scientist of Research Center for Climate Change of MWR. He possesses the titles of National Young Experts with Outstanding Contributions, Advanced Individuals of Returned Overseas Students, National Distinguished Professionals and First Group of Young and Mid-Aged Chief Scientists of Jiangsu Province, enjoying Special Government Allowance from the State Council.
